Refunds and cancellation

Subscriptions

Paid plans are subscriptions, paid in advance through Stripe for a month or a year at the price shown, in US dollars (USD). A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period, and the card on file is charged, until it is cancelled. Before each renewal we email a reminder.

Cancelling

The account’s admin cancels in the app: Plan and billing → Manage plan and payment opens Stripe’s customer portal, where Cancel ends the subscription at the end of the period already paid for. Until then the plan stays active and the cancellation can be undone in the same place. Nothing more is charged, unless the plan is changed before then (a plan change undoes the cancellation) or a renewal payment has failed: Stripe still retries it, and if a retry succeeds, the subscription runs to the end of the period it pays for; if none does, it ends after the last retry and its unpaid renewal is cancelled. Deleting your account in the app (Team → Delete your account) cancels the subscription at once when you are the account’s only member — it stays cancelled if you then keep the account — and nothing is refunded; unless you keep the account, its stamps’ labels and certificates are then deleted after 7 days, sooner than the storage period below, which their .ots proofs still keep. A member’s deletion leaves the organisation’s subscription, labels and certificates as they are.

After a subscription ends

The account moves to the Free plan, which covers up to 25 stamps a month. Every stamp keeps its Bitcoin anchor and its public status page. Each stamp’s stored .ots proof and certificate are kept for at least 30 days after the subscription stops being current, then deleted together with the stamp’s label; a .ots file you downloaded once the stamp was anchored keeps verifying without us.

Changing plan

A plan change in the portal that costs more — a higher plan, or a longer interval — takes effect at once: Stripe charges the new plan’s price for the rest of the period, less the old plan’s unused time, to the card then. A change that costs less — a lower plan, or a shorter interval such as yearly to monthly — takes effect at the end of the period already paid for: the current plan stays until then, nothing is charged for the change, and the new price applies from the next renewal.

Your right of withdrawal, and refunds

If you buy as a consumer in the EU, you may withdraw from the contract within 14 days. Because the service starts at once, Checkout asks you to request an immediate start and to confirm that you thereby lose this right; a subscription cannot be started without it. Payments are not refunded, in whole or in part, when a subscription is cancelled, changed or ends.

Failed payments

If a renewal payment fails, Stripe retries it and the plan stays active meanwhile. If it still fails after the last retry, the subscription is cancelled, its unpaid renewal is cancelled too, and the account moves to the Free plan. If the payment for a plan change fails, the plan stays as it was.
